Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Tennessee.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Went to pick strawberries this year. It was cute. Strawberries we're delicious. $1.50 a lbs. They did give us a bucket, but you can take your own bucket to pick. I recommend. Great price. It would have been nice if there was something the kids could take a seat under to get some shade after picking or to take a break while picking. My son was so hot he didn't want to pick anymore and there wasn't anywhere to cool off... Just an idea. They do offer you to leave info and once corn, tomatoes etc. Are ready to harvest they will call for you to come buy. Over all a fun experience here. With good berries!”

“Bring cash or check to pay for the produce. I put this here first because I forgot to bring cash and luckily was able to find some in my car that allowed us to purchase some strawberries. The farm itself is easy to locate and has ample parking. The selection of fresh produce to pick is amazing and each worker is friendly and helpful. The prices were fair and we left with an entire bucket. Tips: Bring mud boots Bring a change of clothes for little ones Have a trash bag for muddy items Bring buckets for picking This area is not stroller friendly And as said before...bring cash”

“Despite all the rain and even an earthquake, my family and I visited the farm 2 weekends in a row and ended up with over 30 lbs of strawberries!! Everyone was friendly, I even got a little advice on how to care for my strawberries 🍓 at home! We love supporting our local farmers and appreciate all they do. Thank you Rutherford Farms 🚜”

“The family was able to get 16lbs of strawberries for only $32, can't get a better price than that! Some good size berries, though most of the larger ripe ones had been picked through by time we arrived at 4:45 Monday. Most of the larger berries were still white, so I know they've got some big ones eventually haha.”

“The berries are delicious. They’re tiny, but juicy. You pay $1 for a big bucket then you pick your own berries. We had 2 buckets that were half full and it was only $12. It was A LOT of berries! Worth the drive!”

“Steve is a great guy and has some of the best strawberries I’ve ever had on top of all of the other vegetables he sells! Such a great experience to bring your kids and teach them to pick their own strawberries.”

“Sarah was wonderful. She made accomodations for us to pick our own strawberries from the field. My wife and I really enjoyed the time we spent at the farm.”

“First time here. Loved picking strawberries! They are so good. Everyone was very nice, too. Can't wait to go back.”
