A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Maine.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

What visitors say

“Beautiful place to pick blueberries by the creek. They have a self-serve area with buckets and belts and a scale. The blueberries have always been plentiful and delicious. I've never had a problem with mosquitoes like the last reviewer and I really don't think that's something Sturgeon Cove can do much about. I'm personally glad they don't use poisons to kill them around the blueberries.”

“I love picking at Sturgeon Cove for the best blueberries every year! While it is a small, family-run operation, they have blueberries galore! I went down for my first time this year and every bush was FULL of perfect berries. Never super busy and I love that they don’t use pesticides or anything on their bushes. A great local gem for sure!”

“Enjoyed picking my blueberrys . Good size orchid. Friendly owners . We will be coming back in a couple of weeks”

“Beautiful and stunning views as you pick from amazing hightop Blueberry bushes”

“Fantastic spot to pick your own blueberries!”

“Magical place very well maintained. Beautiful, and by the water. Lots of blueberry bushes. Do it yourself. Bucket pickup and honor system payments”

“The blueberries were exceptional, but the mosquitos were a horror. There were plentiful bushes in the grove, but there were probably 5 mosquitos per every singular blueberry. The view of stergeon creek was okay.”
