Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Rhode Island.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

What visitors say

“Nice place for a quick visit. Has enough parking and farm is right on the road side so you dont have to walk much if you have kids. Unlike other farms, you dont need to get tickets to get inside, so you could just walk in. Pros: 1. Parking to picking is a 1 min walk or less, you're parking right infront of the trees 2. No ticket to get inside, so no waiting in queue 3. Pay only for what you picked 4. Tasty apples and different types of trees are labeled properly 5. Big farm so social distancing is easy 6. Hand sanitizers are kept at the entrance 7. Soap and hand wash available at exit 8. Nice people 9. Parks and fishing spots are nearby Cons: 1. The hand sanitizer kept at the exit is actually soap. A hand wash board will help 😀”

“We had a wonderful late October visit to Sunset Orchard. Despite being a sunny weekend morning, it wasn’t too crowded. Our little kids loved the free hayride around the perimeter of the orchard. We liked that the pay-by-the-pound pick your own model meant our kids could each carry their own bag and do their own picking (and there were plenty of apples even later in the season, a little farther back in the orchard.) Afterward we visited the farm store for a bag of fresh, warm apple cider donuts —some of the best we’ve had! We definitely commend Sunset Orchard for their operations and really enjoyed ourselves.”

“We showed up at 5 to pick apples on a Friday and had a beautiful time, during the actual sunset no less! Lots of tree variety and spots to walk around, plus pumpkins, apple cider, lots of fruit, and other fun snacks for sale! They have a number of different varieties and you just pick what you like and pay for the weight at the end. Friendly service, gorgeous spot, and not too busy. Would definitely go back another year!”

“We had a wonderful experience today at the farm! I work with people with autism, and Katie (works at farm) set the whole event up to best support our group! She offered us different options, and was completely patient with any needs we had. She went the extra mile and ALL of our individuals and the staff had an amazing day!!!”

“Beautiful and delicious apples (many varieties), as well as plums, peaches and nectarines, all grown right there! And garden fresh vegetables too! Matt & Katie are wonderful people, they are our neighbors, the fruits and vegetables are fresh and amazing, and the prices are reasonable! ❤❤❤”

“Had a great time today! Great place to take photos and pick apples! They also have nice pumpkins, apple cider, and other vegetables in the store. Also, no cover charge just pick your own and pay by the pound. 😁”

“We had a nice time picking apples here. Friendly staff. Good variety. They had a truck to take visitors through the orchard 👍🏾 visit the shop for the donuts and cider.”
