What you can pick

In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for Illinois, not a guarantee for this exact farm.

Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Illinois.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Payment notes on file: American Express, Diners Club, Discover, JCB, Mastercard, VISA. Cash still helps at smaller stands.

“This is the third year we will be getting a tree from Tammen Tree farm 🌲❤️🎄 here you will find the most helpful, cheerful people willing and wanting to help. We plan on heading there next weekend can't wait to find this years tree! The kids have a blast running around trying to eye the "perfect" tree, It's become a tradition for our family now, my oldest who is 12 and my husband always cut it down together but this year they're letting our 7 yr old join in the tradition and show him how it's done. We always stop in and get some maple syrup and a wreath from the shop area as well! So many other things to choose and buy! Thank you for all you do, you don't just supply trees you supply families with the happiness of tradition and holiday joy which is absolutely priceless 💝”

“I think we been here like 6-7 yrs straight, about 1.5hr from naperville We probably only picked half full bucket it was $16.55 + 2.5 soda Since i dont eat berries but i been told they are pretty sweet, well, we just picked them, fresh from the farm lol. I would recommend you bring sunscreen, bug spray and hats, after all you are probably going to be on the farm 'working' for 2hrs under the sun lol! They have several sections, each shuttle takes you to different area so if you are a group, please make sure you enter the same time lol.  each section has ice cold water They also has a picnic area welcome to bring sandwiches to spend sometime along w/ a playground + sand area for the kids!”

“Spent a great July day picking blueberries here. In just under 1.5 hrs the two of us picked 5lbs of blueberries for less than $15. We were glad to have brought sunscreen, bug spray and hats. Going early is best if you want to avoid the heat. They had water in the fields to drink but we brought our own water bottles. We saw people of all ages picking and met people who have been coming here for years. Great activity for all ages. After picking there are tables in the shade you can enjoy a picnic lunch (bring your own) and there is a small play area for younger kids. You can also buy jams, honey, etc.”

“We have gone here for 5 + years to get our Christmas tree.. THE Best!! We have tried 2 other farms [abbey farms and bengstons farm] and nothing is better. You get to drive your car around multiple fields - (less walking compared to other tree farms) make sure your car is suitable especially after rainy days it can get muddy. Get any size tree big or small for all the same price, many varieties of trees. Option to shake and bale also available and they have little food truck with hot coco, etc Fun experience and tradition for us =]”

“Have been going here for years! They are helpful and friendly. Lots of trees too choose from. If needed, a handsaw is provided. We have a 21 ft tall family room and have found trees each year to fit nicely! Thank You Tammen Treeberry Farm for providing our family a true Christmas Tree experience over the years!”

“Great place to get a Xmas tree! They provide hand saws, and also offer to shake and bale your tree for a couple extra bucks. All trees are $60 ea. Pretty good selection. While living room now smells like pine! Never buying pre-cut trees again.”

“We had the best time today! My teenager even said that they “liked it there and the blueberries were really good.” High praise all around from 2 to 😅 “27” years old. We will be back to pick more blueberries soon! Today’s won’t last long😁”

“The farm is beautiful, the tracker ride was a nostalgic and quite fun, the blueberry bushes were a bit rough with dead branches sticking out but the berries were very nice, if not a bit over ripe. The one thing I wasn’t happy about is, they only let you pick in a very small area per tracker load of people. We were allowed 3 rows but there was already a group in those three rows. I think they need to widen the area so you can move around.”
