Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Iowa.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

What visitors say

“This place is the best for kids under 12. Forget all the other pumpkin patches. Bring your kids here! There is you pick for pumpkins, apples, and grapes. Train diorama at entry with a beautiful pergola. Wagons and cutters available for use. There are many activities spread throughout the site for you and your children to discover. Our kids especially loved the kid sized train they could play on and the ring toss games. The property is very well kept and is incredibly family friendly. The gift shop has many extras (homemade goods) for you to purchase at checkout. We spent nearly and entire afternoon here and the kids would have stayed another couple hours had we let them. The pumpkins don’t seem to be priced but we found them to be very affordable even compared to other pumpkin places. One of the big advantages here is there is no admission fee which is a terrific community service for those that are unable to afford it. If you visit here and can afford it buy extra pumpkins for your friends to support such a great endeavor.”

“It's exactly how you would imagine a small family pumpkin patch. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. When you go through the entrance you are immersed into a massive back yard with tons of play structures and little buildings. Trees and flowers. There's a very clean outhouse as well. The pumpkin patch is very quaint and had a very nice variety of pumpkins to pick from. They also had grapes and apples to pick. You feel like your just on your grandparents farm to have a good time for a few hours. They sell jams, jellies and other things as well. Oh and they have wagons available for kids or pumpkins. All grass but there was a couple kids in wheel chairs that got around just fine.”

“This place is such a joy every fall. It for certain has the lowest entry fee ($0.00), and many little fun activities for all families. The selection of apples, pumpkins, and other fruits and vegetables is great, and it is always fun to watch the bees in the bee hive gathering and flying back to the hive. My wife and I have been bringing our kids here for the past eight years, and every year he goes to great effort to make sure he has something new for us to enjoy. The owner and his wife and very pleasant people to offer this place to the residents of Council Bluffs and surrounding areas. We tell all of our family and friends about this place so they can enjoy it too.”

“Yesterday was our first time here it was so much fun a lot of activities for the kids to play around. The owners were extremely nice and helpful their set up was incredible with what they had. It is a small pumpkin patch but we love to support local family owned businesses. There is no charge for entrance fee!!!!! A huge plus is they are dog friendly as long as your pet is on a leash and you pick up the poop. I will definitely be bringing my big boy out there soon. It was free parking as well. The only thing is they only accept cash or check so be mindful of that. Other than that very well set up and such a neat place to visit we will definitely be back!!!!!!”

“If you have younger ones this is the perfect low key pumpkin patch. No entrance fee, pick your own pumpkins, gourds and apples. They have a few wagons for you to use and baskets for smaller items. The prices for pumpkins were very reasonable in my opinion. The walk out to the pumpkin patch was easy. We pushed out a stroller wagon without a problem. We will definitely visit again.”

“Great for the whole family! Free admission! And prices in fruits and vegetables are Great! The Welch Family is kind and you can tell they love what they do!”

“As Grandparents it was our first time. Our little grandkids had so much fun!!!! Definitely a yearly outing for us.”

“It Was fun! We got popcorn eggs and pumpkins Just wish there was more to do around there keep up the good work!”
