Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Virginia.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“School group review: Took a group of about 45 students on a weekday. We were the only school there. I was really impressed with the number of things to do. They could really accommodate a large group of children all at once. Bathrooms are port-a-pottys, which is pretty standard at pumpkin patches. Drinks and snacks were for sale. Food trucks run on the weekends. Play structures seemed safe and well-maintained. Activities included the tall "Tongue Biter" double slide, smaller slides, swings, playground, feeding goats, pedal tractors, sandbox, corn cribs, corn maze, see-saws, basketball shot, water pump duck racing, and photo opportunities. We did not utilize the fishing pond, but it's included with normal admission. We appreciated the educational portion at the beginning of the visit and especially the hayride at the end. It's a safe, well-built wagon with stairs for loading/unloading. The ride is long enough to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery and they've even incorporated a scavenger hunt of things to look for along the way. All-in-all, it kept 45 3-8 year-olds busy from 10a-2p with no problem. I look forward to seeing what Fairview adds in the coming seasons.”

“I can’t think of a better way to spend an autumn day. Came here yesterday and had way too much fun! Could have stayed here all day. There is something for everyone - my toddler is already asking to go back and my husband and I want to go back too haha. We spent 3 hours here and need more time to do all the things. Staff was super friendly and everything (including portapotties) were clean. It was only 8$ a person (2 and under free), and we were amazed with how much was offered. OH and the view of the mountains was absolutely beautiful. Will be back!”

“We started coming here four years ago and have really enjoyed it! I love the addition of the ropes course this year. Kids of all ages have things to do and today I enjoyed watching so many parents having fun, too! Things are well maintained and it is a really safe environment for kids to run ahead without having to be right on top of them. It's fun to come back and enjoy the same things as your child grows. We spent about four hours here today and my daughter could have stayed much longer.”

“We took our 2 and 4 year old and they were entertained for a solid 2.5 hours and could have stayed longer! We saw families with a wide range of ages there that all seemed to be having a blast. The activities/structures are all very well built and well maintained. Pick your own pumpkins is the best value I’ve seen and the pumpkins were huge. The hay ride was great- beautiful scenery and perfect duration (15-20 mins). We’ll go back year after year!”

“BEYOND GORGEOUS!!! 🌻🌾🍂🌽🎃 The photos don’t do it justice! Lot of thing for kiddos, but as two adults, this was also a really cute date! Corn maze, pumpkins, sunflowers and a beautiful hay ride. 😻😻😻 100% recommend for any age! We are both veterans and MORE THAN HAPPY to pay the $10 each. Football, baseball, and basket ball games were so much fun! PERFECT AUTUMN DAY! Thank you.”
