Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Maryland.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“I visited Montpelier Farms in Upper Marlboro on a Tuesday midday with a friend and brought my dog along for a little adventure. It was super easy to get tickets, and we had a blast with all the activities. I really enjoyed everything from the tractor trailer hayride to swinging a rope to catch the fake bull horns, playing basketball, bowling, and of course, going through the corn maze and sliding down the tube slide. My dog loved the fresh air and the walk around the farm. The hot cider with a donut on top was a sweet treat, even if I had to dodge a few bees. It’s not far from D.C., and I’ll definitely be returning next year. You don’t need kids to enjoy it, it’s perfect for anyone with an inner child, friends looking for a fun outing, or even a day out with your pets. Plus, it was very affordable. Highly recommend!”

“It was a great day here. We spent 6 hrs here last weekend. The kids played paint ball, basketball, tug of war, feed the animals, did paint ball , slide down the big slides, and the corn maze. The strawberry funnel cake here is way better than six flags. It was so good. The food was reasonable price. They take forever to make your drinks though. The long was so long. Be careful with the bees and your shoes due to dust, dirt, etc. the pigs smelt really bad in that filthy water puddle.”

“I've been visiting this farm for over three years for the Halloween pumpkin pack, and ever since, there's always been a new event to enjoy. The farmland is truly stunning. They have animals, games, tasty food, and a hayride that's fun for everyone. I definitely recommend checking out one of their events. This time, I attended the beautiful tulip festival, which runs until April 16th.”

“A wonderful way to spend a day with your children and grandchildren. Lots of various activities and animals for the kids to enjoy. Wear your comfortable shoes as there’s lots of walking due to the size of the farm. The hayride takes you through some trees with painted Halloween signs which my grandson enjoyed. Lots of different and delicious food options too!”

“Lots of activities, food vendors, and a farm market. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Kim who patiently taught me how to play paintball. She made my visit more memorable. I enjoyed hayride, trike track, corn maze, farm animals, slides, swings, especially paintball. For city dwellers, Montpelier Farm is an incredibly fun.”

“Going to the Fall Festival has been a tradition or ours for the last three years. This year, we spent hours there and had so much fun! We painted pumpkins and fed cows, enjoyed apple cider slushies and donuts, ate amazing pizza, and made it all the way through the corn maze for the first time. Like others mentioned, the duck race activity only had 3 out of 8 lanes working. They shouldn't be charging for that activity. And yes, some of the staff could do better with customer service. At pumpkin painting station, the worker was so busy painting her pumpkin that she never acknowledged us, and I was standing right in front of her. So, I just got our pumpkins myself. Didn't even give her our tickets. She was that distracted. Other than that, the farm is great. Definitely for younger children, though.”

“We have been here for the fall festival and the tulip farm. Both were great fun. We brought our toddler to the tulip farm and had a very good time. Pros: lots of space to stroll around, good amount of parking, tickets available online and in person, lots of activities on-site for adults or kids, decent food options, very friendly staff, cute market and cute animals. Cons: not a lot of shade, some things seem very overpriced, not a lot of food options outside of sweets.”

“Very disappointing experience. The tulip farm looked promising online, but in reality most of the flowers were dead or dying. The fields lacked color and care, making it feel neglected. Definitely not worth the entrance fee….don’t go!”
