A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Wisconsin.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Being from Northern Illinois, my apple orchard staple was Edward's. My husband wanted to check out Oakwood Fruit Farm, and I am SO glad we did! The store was fantastic! Popcorn, homemade jams, candies, cider, apples, donuts, and so much more! The prices were very fair. And I loved the slushie station. I made myself a donut cider and that is a no truly wonderful creation! The gent working at the slushie station was very helpful and our cashier was a delight. She said the donut slushie was her kryptonite. Now I can relate. Everyone from the parking attendants to the folks in the store to an employee on break were so friendly! For the record, Oakwood's donuts are on par with the donuts I grew up devouring. And if you add a slushie it's just that much better! Oakwood Fruit Farm is worth the trip! We will definitely be back! 🍎🍏🍩”

“What a wonderful place! We live in Madison and took the gorgeous one hour drive to visit. It’s tucked back and away in middle western Wisconsin. The store was clean, organized, and well stocked full of locally made favorites! The Apple Cider donuts were AMAZING (sorry no pics we ate them all. Lol). Prices were great too on all their items Worth the trip in the fall to take in the scenery and visit this perfect Wisconsin store.”

“🍎 We came for the apples and left with plenty of delicious treats! Oakwood Fruit Farm wowed us with fresh-picked apples, apple cider donuts that melt in your mouth, Twigs caramel apple soda (a fizzy fall treat!), and irresistible homemade toffee. A charming, flavorful stop that’s well worth the visit!”

“We like heading out to Oakwood when they are open for the season. Their baked goods are really good and the apple cider donuts reheat well after being frozen. The drive out to Oakwood is very scenic and their orchards are quite large. The staff is terrific!”

“Newly renovated, clean and excellent farm store full of apples, locally made preserves, sauces and spices. They also grow grapes. The day we went apples weren’t allowed to be picked but grapes were. Very busy on the weekend and definitely just visit.”
