Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Illinois.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Puckerville Farms is an incredible local family owned pumpkin farm, that is a must for people that love artists!!! Rick the owner is one of the friendliest people on earth with a huge heart for animals! He is quite an impressive artist! He and his family have truly made a wonderland, with vintage antiques, restored vintage signs, appliances all kinds of original pieces of true hand crafted art!! The pumpkins are fantastic as well as the gords and bunches of corn stalks make it a fall destination. Hay Rides here! Take a trip back in time with playground equipment from your childhood! Kids have a blast on the little merry go-rounds that used to be in your favorite grocery and department stores. Coin operated helicopters, horses, cars all the great stuff a kid from the 80s grew up with, restored and so colorful! I believe the proceeds from the rides go to help their local animal shelter!! This family is 'good people!' Local Honey is available as well! I can't wait to visit there again to see who wins the contest for the number of pumpkins in Rick's Classic 1955 Truck!”

“I wish I knew about Puckerville Farms years ago. While, picking up pumpkins we also discovered so many wonderful and hard to find treasures, Courtesy of the owners hard work. In this time of stress that we live in, we were surrounded by a slow paced, friendly environment. The owners are wonderful folks who take the time to know you. We plan to be dedicated customers.”

“I am so glad we found this farm! I was just looking for some pumpkins to carve for Halloween and did not want to pay for a whole experience. There were many gorgeous gourds to choose from on October 24th. There are some kiddie rides and crafts on the farm. I bought a jar of honey. My well-mannered dog was welcome on a leash. Will be happy to return next year.”

“A simple pumpkin farm with lots of charm. Rick and Joy are very friendly. Even though we waited until October 14th to get our pumpkins there was a good variety in both size and style. The money we saved on admission fees was gladly spent on a variety of pumpkins and gourds!”

“Super efficient! Payed $98 for a 6ft tree which included cutting, netting, and they tied it to the car for us! We were in and out within 10 mins of arrival. Farm feel without the hassle of driving an hour out.”

“They have wonderful pumpkins in the fall. They sell the large pumpkins and fun sizes and shapes and colors. We go there every year for pumpkins and for Christmas Trees.”

“I go there twice a week to attend Bible studies for Christian me. There are pumpkin fest and Christmas 🎄 during seasons.”

“My daughter and I went to Puckerman’s Farm for pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, and mums. Two women were inside at a table chatting. When we inquired about pricing, one of the ladies appeared annoyed and was belligerent. She wouldn’t move from her seat and shouted out where the prices were listed. We promptly left and went to M & D Farms and bought our decorations there.”
