Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Missouri.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Payment notes on file: Mastercard. Cash still helps at smaller stands.

“Thies is home for me. When you’re at a nursery so much that you can help customers and walk through the door with your gardening gloves on & pruners in hand, it’s your other home. Fran and Mark have helped me to continue to establish a beautiful oasis of pollinator flowers; herbs & food. I can’t rave enough about how much I appreciate and rely on their expertise and knowledge. Anything and everything I purchase from Thies. From the local eggs, honey, gardening tools/gloves. If they have it i will buy it. Every plant I’ve purchased has been from this Thies. So when you look up loyalty you’ll see a pic of me shopping or browsing at Thies. 😁👌🏾 Yes I’m on a flower budget but I shop wisely and acquire as much assistance as I can to pick what will grow for my specific space and purpose. One can’t go wrong with visiting your local nurseries/farms. I haven’t purchased eggs/honey or jellies from a grocery store in over 10 yrs. These are just a few pics of the gorgeous plants/flowers I’ve purchased over the years. I started on my sister’s landscaping last year and once again Mark & Fran are helping me along the way. And I can’t forget the sweet & furry welcoming committee, Lou & Chief. If you need some furry love these two guys will provide just that and more. 👌🏾🐾🪴🌺💐🌻💕🫶🏾”

“We had an amazing family outing at the strawberry farm! Our little one had a blast picking strawberries and raspberries, and we got some fantastic photos to cherish. The farm was surprisingly located in the heart of the city, yet felt like a tranquil escape. The staff went above and beyond when my wife misplaced her goggles - they promptly called us the next day to let us know they had found them! Their customer service was top-notch. The farm was incredibly well-maintained and clean. We highly recommend it for getting fresh produce , a fun and memorable experience. Don't miss out on this hidden gem!”

“Went to the wrong Thies at first and was treated poorly for being late to strawberry picking , called this one and was welcomed happily. Very friendly staff, fun finds and my plants are amazing ( lavender and spinach)!! Will not buy plants or pick produces elsewhere now! They even had a toy kitchen where my daughter could play while I looked around. Absolutely love this charming place!”

“Such a great place to visit for your garden needs and much, much more! Easy to find from the road and plenty of parking available. The entrance show cases quite a few plants and fertilizer options for above and in ground plant beds, but there's more magic inside! Take a chance and stop on by and don't forget to get a slice of pie! It was delicious!!”
