Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Wisconsin.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“I don't know how I missed this orchard after living 10 minutes away from it for the past 3 decades, but after a single visit its immediately become a favorite. I've visited many other orchards in our vicinity which offer wines, entertainment, trinkets, and other assorted sundries. At Ela you won't find anything but apples, cider, and a very limited audience of goats. But the rustic nature of the property is truly irreplaceable. I was blessed enough to grow up on a historic farm in these parts and this orchard sweeps me back to a time and place that scarcely exists anymore. Ambiance aside, both the cider and all 3 varieties of apples we purchased were very delicious and would warrant repeated visits by themselves. The staff was also extremely accommodating. I strongly recommend visiting this orchard if you ever find yourself in the Rochester area.”

“Just a darling of a place!! Forget those grocery store red things called apples, here you have a taste of the whole country side with varieties like Russett, Macoun, Liberty, Cortland, Wine Sapp, Melba, Lodi and so, SO many more! Plus a few recognizable favorites like Gala and McIntosh. Don’t forget your Cider, too! I come back any chance I’m in state! This place also makes great Instagram/FB photos. #betterthanyourstoreapples”

“Beautiful orchard with rustic beauty. Exceptional customer service - always willing to let you try before you buy, they bag your apples, and engage in meaningful conversation. Prices are very reasonable. I wish there were more places like this! I've had cider from at least a dozen local farms and this was the best I've had! Excited for next season to get more apples and cider!”

“The apples are fantastic! I'm so happy I was able to enjoy a bag! They are well worth it. An you'd be lucky if you ever get the chance to partake. The people are so nice, warm and welcoming. I recommend to anyone looking for a tasty healthy treat.”

“I gave it five stars because not of for attractions but for apples and pears it had a great variety of apples and a nice selection of pears prices were reasonable unless you expect Aldis prices , my first time there will definitely go back.”

“Great place. Over 30 varieties of apples. Excellent knowledge. Let them know what flavor or taste yo have in a apple. They will match it to what you like.”

“Beautiful, simple orchard. No kiddie rides, hay wagons or corn mazes, just great apples in a beautiful setting. Petting the goats ar3 a bonus.”

“A nice orchard with friendly and helpful workers. There are a variety of apples to choose from, priced according to size.”
